Guardamar del Segura

Guardamar del Segura, known more commonly as Guardamar, which was the official name until the early 1900´s when reference to the river where the town site was added, the Rio Segura.

Guardamar del Segura is a city and coastal municipality in the province of Alicante, situated on the Costa Blanca in the Valencian region of Spain.

Guardamar is located on the southeast coast of the province of Alicante, north of Torrevieja, and is part of the Vega Baja del Segura area.

The town is also known for its pine forest, planted at the beginning of the 20th century to stop the advance of the coastal sand dunes, most of which are now naturally protected areas.
